Brother DCP 120C - won't print

I bought a Brother DCP 120 Printer/scanner/copier last week, set it up but it won't print. Nothing, Nada. Test print comes out with a pristine white blank sheet of paper, in either colour test or black and white.
Scanner works but won't print either.....
It makes a noise as if it is printing, but doesn't actually print anything.
I have tried cleaning the print head, about 4 or 5 times but this makes no difference.
And yes, I have taken the protective strips off of the cartridges!
Before I telephone Brother, does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

Have you opened the thermo coupling device that sits just under the ink cartridges? You need to take this cover off and rotate the filter switch to 'ink'.Herman - MP for all!

I have no idea what the problem is. I bought the same printer but didn't have any problems.

Aliasojo, thanks, at least you made me laugh!
Yes, I bought it from Comet after reading about it on here, guess I'm just unlucky to find a duff one, I'm normally pretty good at getting techie things to work, but this has stumped me.. :wall:
