Smelly thermos

I used a thermos flask today that has been stored for a couple of years. It smelt quite musty. I washed it, but this didn't make much difference. Any ideas?

Put a teaspoon of bicarb in and fill it to the brim with hot water. Leave it to soak - voila, smell gone. :D

If it's one of the old ones you can take to bits, I'd be tempted to do so and give the rims and seals a good scrub first as sometimes old food/ drink can get stuck there and smell.

Bicarb? It gets rid of smells in the fridge, and sick smells.I'd try putting some in dry and leaving overnight for it to absorb the smell.HTH

Or stuff with some scrunched up newspaper, and leave overnight or 24 hrs, it absorbs the smell and works every time.

I've heard that putting crushed egg shells in it and leaving overnight helps - might be an old wives' tale though, as I haven't tried it (despite being an old wife :D ).

I am sure I would need to eat over the governments recommended amount of eggs for this one :)
