I have two kids, boys, aged 4 and 9. Could anyone who has been before let me know what there is at Donnington to keep the boys interested when not watching the races? Should I perhaps just take the 9 year old?
Take them both, best day is the Sunday - they wont get bored. There's a free fun fair this year, bi- plane display, loads of static displays, interactive games, they can sit in some of the cars, get autographs etc. Beware though, if the weather is bad it is not a friendly place for children.

Look forward to seeing fellow MSErs there!

Shame there's no cameras allowed, though!

Does anyone know if you can take your own food and drink in? :)

Definately take your own food and drink. The skank wagons charge way too much and the queues are endless.

If you look at this link:
    http://www.renaultuk.co.uk/wsr/details.aspx
it states that anybody under 16 doesn't need their own ticket. :)

If you read the back of the ticket i think what it is trying to say is that no filming is allowed for non-private use, i.e. newspapers and television people.

They normally say this as the professional photographers have to pay extra to be allowed to take photos for non-private use and many of them try to avoid paying this and quite often some places don't allow any non-private photographers in and they sell their own pics to the newspapers direct.

Just taking photos for your own private use should be fine. If you have a more profesional looking camera (i.e. not a compact one) then you may be challeneged by event staff - just say its for private use and you just happen to have a nice quality camera! Just in case take some family photos on the camera first and some photos on the way up there and show them to anyone who challanges you.....if you were getting paid per photo you would waste film/mem card space on pictures of the family dog now would you! - this has only ever happened to me once in about 12 events (i.e. car racing and horse racing events) that ive been to and all I said was thats its for private use and they let me go.
  • if you guys need a camp site i just got booked into the donington park farmhouse hotel, they have camping pitches left only, we stopping for 3 nights with a 4man tent only costing £48 for 2 people and the man sounded real nice contact details if anyone needs is 01332 862409

If you are pregnant then they will let you use the best loos regardless! I got to use the backstage toilets at a gig once when 7 months pregnant as the queue for the normal ones was enormous.
I was also ushered into the police/ambulance staff loos at the notting hill carnival, which were so much nicer than the portaloos.
Same at Glastonbury, one of our friends ended up getting a backstage pass as she was heavily pregnant and charmed one of the security staff.
Just tell her to stick out the bump and smile..lol
