I found you dont need to join... and really its not work - its a hobby. I started this season mostly sprints and hillclimbs, with the odd race day at Oulton Park.
you risk your life everywhere - at least Marshalling you are there to look after the safety of others, get to watch often excellent racing, enjoy excellent company of fellow motorsport enthusiasts
you dont *really* need to spend anything - BRSCC say you need to be a member of the club to marshal at their events, but - there arent enough marshals about to be selective - I am a member of BARC yet i have marshalled at BARSCC, the MG car club, vintage car club: everyone is welcome to join in. Rookies like me are looked after by the more experianced guys - and we stay as safe as we can behind the tyre walls and armcos.
really min is enthusiasm & good shoes (your going to stand up for most of the day) and wear no red (all motorsport) yellow, green or blue (circuits) as it can clash with the flags. Marshals wear orange as hi vis gear is easy to get hold of & its bright, but doesnt clash. but its not mandatory to wear any of this - but it is recommended. My gear consist of a suit which was a £20 welders boiler suit which is fire retardent. old pair of steel toed boots i have for my work on site, pair of rigger gloves from B&Q (£3) pair of kevlar gloves (£1 off ebay) and a baseball hat i was given at the Oulton Park GT/F3 race - but i started with a old yellow hi vis ambulance jacket of my Uncle's and the doc Ms.

I got some tickets for this event last year.
I seem to remember they did take a while - so much so I'd forgotten I'd requested them.
The day was fantastic - weather really good, lots of races, views of pits, well organised etc - also lots of gorgeous ladies handing out free posters/pens/stickers etc.
Hope those who asked for them this year get them - you'll have a ball!!0
