Hardship accepted, low percentage being offered

We have had our hardship claim unbelievably accepted today. From a total claimed of £4,455, they are now offering us just £1,195 - amounting to 2 months mortgage debt, which they say is for our 'priority debt'. The sum is little more than 25% of the total we are claiming.
In the time taken to reach this decision, we owe another £600 payment on the mortgage as well as other priority debts.
Anyone been at a similar point with Abbey and have any advice as to how 'negotiable' they are/might be at this stage?

That is pretty good, especially as that is two months mortgage payments. The rest is still on the table as it is not a full and final settlement(btw I'm Yourbank on CAG).
Is the account currently over its overdraft limit?
How much of the amount you are claiming is charges aloine(excl, interest)?
Have they suspended charges and interest at all?0 -

Go back and tell them you happily accept the offer of the 1195, ask if they are paying the mortgage company direct, and also tell them as the decision has taken a while you are now a further £600 in arrears and if they could possibly consider that amount too - also ask them if they are stopping future charges etc as its hard to get back on your feet while they continue to charge you and assure them you are doing everything in your power to sort things out, oh and also mention you understand that anything they dont pay up now will be repaid on conclusion of the test case.LegalBeagles0 -

Account is @ £0.00 so no more charges due - thankfully. Amount being claimed for excluding interest is £3,825.natweststaffmember wrote: »That is pretty good, especially as that is two months mortgage payments. Just seems an oddly low amount, most abbey offers have been in the region of 70-100%. I think they should at least offer the extra month's mortgage arrears.0 -
Have you got two or three months arrears?whizzkid001 wrote: »Account is @ £0.00 so no more charges due - thankfully. Amount being claimed for excluding interest is £3,825.

3 months arrears (2 when we first claimed). We also have 1 month arrears on a secured loan, again, this has occurred after we first applied so they don't even know about this one.natweststaffmember wrote: »Have you got two or three months arrears?0 -
As amethyst or esmerwhatsaname(I never can spell her name on here, I can on Legal beagles but not here;)) has said accept and point out additional arrears have now been incurred and ask if they are able to increase the offer due to this. Did you get further charges for those two arrears being returned unpaid?whizzkid001 wrote: »3 months arrears (2 when we first claimed). Yes. Have already written to add those charges on. Guess it won't do any harm to ask, at least they have accepted the hardship claim in principle.natweststaffmember wrote: »As amethyst or esmerwhatsaname(I never can spell her name on here, I can on Legal beagles but not here;)) has said accept and point out additional arrears have now been incurred and ask if they are able to increase the offer due to this. I would be a bit more ballsy and say in the interim time that it took for the claim to be determined additional hardship has been caused by two further payment being returned(1 mortgage payment and 1 secured loan). If you had any paperwork from mortgage company and/or secured loan then photocopy them and send them with it.whizzkid001 wrote: »Yes. Have already written to add those charges on.
