Does paying a fine demonstrate acceptance of it?

If I pay a fine does that show that I accept the fine, or can I pay the fine to avoid further charges and contest it later?
Is this a general rule or does it apply differently in cases of:
- charges from warrenty repair centres(private companies)
- parking fines(local councils)
Thanks

Order of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. What should have happened?: banks go bust and we lost our money much quicker

You could pay but forward a letter with payment to declare that you paid under protest0

It Depends what kind of fine it is. If for example a company tries to charge you a penalty for breach of contract then paying would likely be an indication of acceptance that you breached the contract and while not impossible to challenge later it's easier to refuse to pay and contest it at the time.
A clamping fine for example, you would be best to pay immediately to stop further charges and you are being put under immense pressure to pay so you would therefore have much greater grounds to pay yet still dispute it as unlike the above example you were placed into a situation where you had to pay to secure the release of your vehicle and prevent possible loss of your vehicle and so by paying you were merely securing the release and safe return of your goods, not accepting that the fine was justified.
Hope that helps.0
