Driving Licence Photo Renewal

Hi,

I have just had a letter to renew my photo licence (10 years is up!) However I have also recently moved address. Would I be right in thinking it would be free to change my photo licence if I simply told them of the change of address, whereas a fee of £20 is due if I simply go down the first route?

Thanks for your help in advance,

Si.

I think they want a new photo? Read the guidlines but might be worth a try.

I'm afraid you are not right. I got my licence back after changing address a couple of weeks ago and it still has the expiry of May 2010.

Remember to change your address first, if you renew your licence (and pic) they may post your new licence to your old address.

You could send in your licence asking for them to change your address but include a photo as you have changed your appearance and ask then to update it for you.

Wait till it needs renewed and change the address at the same time. That way you might get away with no fee. (I added motorbike entitlement and changed address before, sent a cheque but got the cheque returned).

Just had to renew my photo. What with the recent cases reported on Watchdog and local radio of licenses sent off being returned with the wrong entitlements on them (people have had to retake tests to sort it out!) I decided to tick the licence lost box and hang on to my original docum, ents in case of problems.

I've still got my paper licence, that does'nt need renewing, so i'll keep it until they force me to change.
