Renting with bad/average credit?

Hi everyone....
My partner and I are living in London at the moment, started renting 6 months ago from a landlord who did not do a credit check.
Now, we are looking to move out of London to start a family - the thing is, I dont know what my credit rating is like. Im assuming it is not too good because I have missed the odd payment about 12 months ago and before that, also I have moved around a lot. So, we have found a really lovely place we want to move to but the thing is the private Landlord has said that she will be going to a 3rd party to get a credit check done on us. MY PARTNERS CREDIT IS GOOD. So, even though I'm hoping it will be fine, what can I do if it comes back and isn't acceptable? The Landlord said she needs to do one for 'insurance purposes'.
Advice would be greatly appreciated - I am so stressed Im close to breakdown!!! :P Re-locating I am trying to find a new job as well as a place to live and we have given notice to our current flat now. Also I am worried that the 3rd party might go to my employer, in which case they would find out im planning on moving (I havent told them as I only have to give 1 days notice) and I dont want to give them more than that as I might burn my bridges if it turns out we have to stay.
Please please help guys....thank you

Even if your credit rating is bad, then they can just do it on your partners score and set up the rental agreement with him. The deposit and everything would be in his name though. I had this with the last place I rented, as I'd just come out of an IVA the questionaire said 'Have you been bankrupt or CCJ'd', I said 'no' as these are not IVA's. Basically the LA rejected me but I still moved in as my housemate was ok and so it was all in his name even though I paid my half of the rent direct to the agency, the deposit in the DPS scheme was just in his name.
Luckily we've been mates since school so I trusted him not to run off with my cash

Thank you so much thats really good advice, makes me feel better. Im just hoping that she will be okay insurance-wise if his comes back good and mine doesn't. If all else fails, I reckon Ill just have to offer her 6 months rent in advance! She will also be able to get from the Landlord now that we always pay our rent on time.
Its so frustrating - i just want to shout- I WILL PAY IT JUST ACCEPT ME DAMMIT!! lol0
