dads in house

Hi all, 4 years ago i bought my dads council house paid for it out right,he was quite happy for me to do this and put my sole name on the title deeds,I have since added an extension paid for with a re-mortgage in my name. Dad has lived in the house rent free all this time as I am not looking for rent from him,he is semi retired at 70, and recently his health has been failing he is not at deaths door or anything like it :rotfl:needs a new hip tho, what would happen if he was not able to look after himself i mean if he had to go to a nursing home etc etc and he had very little savings what are the possible senarios. I live at another property with my wife.

I take it mean can the council take the house? The answer is no.

I don't know what would happen to the discount if your purchase was made in his name initally, so as to get the discount, and then transferred to yours afterwards. Presumably if you did that, then the council has already noticed as that would be a disposal anyway.

if that does not apply then in principle, as he never owned the house, then deprivation of assets rules before applying for council funded care would not matter, so the answer is still no

Does the mortgage lender know you are not living in the property?

I took 'paid for it outright' to mean he paid, rather than borrowed, and that there's no lender involved....
