Giving notice

Hi everyone
I'm thinking about maybe moving house - from one rented house to another. I know that most rolling tenancies require you to give notice of a rental month, but a few are different. I've just checked the wording on my tenancy agreement, and I'd be grateful if people could tell me what they think it means. It says:
...commencing on and including 07/04/2006 and expiring on and including 06/10/2006 and from month to month thereafter until terminated upon either one calendar month's notice being given by the Tenant or two calendar months' notice by the Landlord...
What does that mean, exactly? Do I need to give notice that I will end on a 6th of a month, or can I give a month's notice on any date I feel like?

Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I read it that you give notice on the 7th of the month to expire on 6th of following month. My rental agt is the same as yours.0

Hopefully, you will find the Shelter advice how to end a periodic tenancy helpful. Giving a months notice that doesn't coincide with the rental period is wrong.
"If your agreement is periodic (ie rolling from week to week or month to month), you normally have to give at least four weeks' notice to end it, or a calendar month if you have a monthly tenancy. ...It is always best to give notice in writing and ensure that the notice ends on the first or last day of the period of a tenancy. For example, if your tenancy is monthly and started on the fifth day of the month, the notice you give the landlord should end on the fourth or the fifth. Check with an adviser if you have any doubts about the dates."

Your periodic tenancy began on 7th Oct through until 6 November and so on, therefore you would needyour LL to have received your notice by the 7th of one month and to leave on the 6th of the following. Give the notice a few days in advance & send by RD, keeping a copy.0
