Ebay clothes with animal hair

I am a seller. I have received a complaint which was sent last week but have not checked emails till today. Buyer says there is pet hair on the item but I had laundered the item and it is as described, but I did not notice the pet hair. What do I do? I own cats :((

well then... you didn't say you didn't have pets and you have washed the item as stated. Obviously you didn't declare the item as new either! If you are a private seller, selling a few surplus items out of your house, then what the bloody hell can people expect?

Not nice to receive an item with hair on it I know... but I am pretty sure 99% of people who buy from ebay will wash the items themselves anyway regardless of whether they have been laundered already! I know I do...

I received a jacket for my daughter covered in baby sick and I didn't complain about it...I just didn't leave feedback!

not sure what you can do... tell her to send it back if she really cannot wear it... if anything!

Sorry... probably haven't helped you much!! x
  • Tell the buyer it is as described and you never stated that you do not have pets, or neither did the buyer ask?

I bought a baby cosy toes a few weeks ago, used twice as new. Came with free dog hair but i never complained, after all. I bought a used item and those with pets, or smokers for that matter. should not have to explain every life choice when selling on ebay!! We don't get product histories in charity shops or boot sales now do we? LOL
If google doesn't know it, how should i?

I agree. Surely the buyer is capable of washing the garment. Perhaps she should tick to buying brand new from the shops

I had this complaint once (never said I was pet free either) and the only advice I can offer for the future is any clothing that you feel a bit mindful of, just check it over with a bit of selotape before sending it off. I did this from then on and never got another complaint. I personally think the complaint is a bit off, buyer, just deal with it. But, might help to do the above and feel more confident it won't happen again.

To be fair to the buyer, pet hair doesn't always come off in the wash- I've got a skirt that has come out of the washing machine with bits of dog stuck to it, gone back in, and still covered once it's done again so it is possible that it does have hair on it (clean hair though :D). It depends if you're bothered by getting a negative or not. Be polite whatever you decide to do- you might get away with it.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p
