Help Needed with Facebook - Blank Homepage

Hello Techies... I've got a problem with Facebook

When I log in the homepage screen is blank, I can click links to get to other pages but I cant see the main page. It's not completely blank, I can see the top menu bar and a few icons but not the usual live feed.

I've tried searching on the net for a solution and whilst it seems to be a common problem (most people suggest deleting cookies, caches or updating Java) ... I've done all that and its still not working??

It has happened once or twice before and seemed to have fixed itself eventually.. I cant remember if I did any in particular to fix it !!

Just wondering if anyone else had the same problem or knew of a Fix?

I'm addicted to the Bejeweled Blitz Game and need my Daily Fix :rotfl:

Is that happening all the time as sometimes fb plays up? Happened to me a few times but sorts itself out without me doing anything to it. Sometimes firefox tells me the script is slow to load so the page is not displayed completely. But yeah it goes away by itself.
Have you tried using a different browser?

Are you with Sky by any chance? These were the symptoms the other day when something went wrong at their end.

Even if you're not have you tried searching for any messageboards for your own provider? On their own website would be a good start. (Their own site might even have this flagged up as a problem.)

If you are with Sky, and it's the same problem as the other day (or even if it's a similar problem with your own provider) then there is a thread about this here:

I'm not saying this is likely the problem. Just suggesting that it might be.

If you were the only one getting the problem id have suspected a spoofed Facebook website, one that's not fully working anymore.
Something ive come across before where the logon and home page look genuine and all the links lead back to the real site, but it's a fake and probably being used to steal your details.

But like I say, it depends on whether there's a pattern as to which people have the problem.

No... Not with Sky... I'm with BT Broadband ?? I'll check the BT Forums for any known problems now

I'm pretty sure its not a spoof site because I can get to other parts of my page, its just the homepage. It is a known problem, lots of people on Facebook & Yahoo Answers have posted Questions over the past few months - But they all seem to suggest Cookies or Firefox

Well, I have just managed to get on the Facebook Bejweled Game from a bookmark on my Facebook Page... So atleast I get to play my game!!

    Urm... Still no luck??

Although I did find a little Facebook Trick by adding an 'S' to the http address you can enter in secure mode and the homepage is displayed???

However I'm now having problems viewing items on Ebay, same thing happening here just a blank page when I go into view an item.

Any more Ideas? I'll be back tommorrow to Check for updates!

Ruling out the possibility of BT's DNS servers is quite easy to do (as per my earlier post).

And it's quite easy to put your PC back to how it was. Just follow the instructions on from this page:

    https://www.opendns.com/start/

If that solves your problem then you know what it was and who to complain to (if you want). If it doesn't then it rules it out. (I must admit, I'd expect more people to be reporting this if it was at BT's end, but you never know.)

There were quite a few sites my family couldn't access when this happened to us - I think ebay might have been one of them.
