The stupid excuse they gave me on the phone was with the Electron you have to be over 18,well as I am 70 I think it's a poor excuse!
I have used Tesco online for years but recently changed to Asda.
I have had my 5th Asda shop and they are definitely cheaper than Tesco (I open up 2 tabs, shop on Tesco then Asda. And Asda has always been cheaper)
The deliveries have been on time, whereas Tesco rarely are.
They have a price match which is wonderful so if they substitute and the item is dearer than your original item, you pay the cheaper price.
The fresh food is much better and not on the sell by date day which Tesco more often was with me.
Customer service is brilliant and they listen to you whereas Tesco couldnt care less in my opinion.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. I couldn't go out this weekend as I couldn't draw any money from my account,if you ring up the bank,in my case the Co-op they say I am in credit but I can't get the money out or use my card in the shops. I have been embarrassed more than 3 or 4 times by this practice and it should be stopped.
Happened to me too.twice in the last three weeks.Have tried customer services (phone and email) with no response whatsoever,I have done my shopping online with Asda for the last 2 years with no problem at all , why
should it just start happening now? How can I sort this out? does anybody know?0 -
Seems that this is maybe a new problem, perhaps ASDA are using new payment processing.
I'm going to email them again. It's not like I'm just wanting to moan and get someone saying sorry, I'm ASKING them to explain how it all works, so I can avoid it happening again.
I made it clear until I can make an informed choice, I won't be shopping with them.
I know ASDA is a big company and they don't care about a few of us moaning but I don't really want to shop with them if it's gonna cause this hassle. I'm a student and living on part time wages during the holidays so I have to budget, therefore use ASDA as my main shop, LIDL and ALDI for small shops, but if I keep being left with no available cash in my account, it's more trouble than it's worth.

This exact senario has just happened to me and have had £85 sat in limbo for the past week. I called ASDA "offshore" customer services and they basically didn't want to take responsibiliy for the error, they didn't even care when I mentioned I will be using Tesco from now on. This is wrong and something needs to be done.0

Same thing happened to me today. Had a delivery from Asda last week (9th Oct).Should have had 79.00 in the bank today and card was embrassingly refused for £5 transaction. Called bank (co-op) and found out I had 2 authoristations in limbo from Asda from LAST WEEK totalling £138 on my account. They were really kind and as a one off have deleted them. I will be calling the store manager of that store to complain.0

this is horrible. Will it happen with a credit card? I've only ordered "stuff" from Asda not food but I'm wondering about that now.0

I think it would happen with any card but maybe mainly with groceries as they authorise when you order and then that isupposed to be overridden when the actual amount is charged. I have just spoken to my local trading standards authority and have emailed Asda and depending on their reply will be emailing Watchdog too and anyone else I can think of. I am furious and nto happy being humiliated in a shop. I don't have much money but what I do have I look after meticulously so never shop without knowing what I have in the bank. It makes me look like an idiot and I won't be standing for it.0

what did the local trading standards authority think about it?0

Not sure yet - they just said they'd alert the local office etc etc...might help you never know!0
