Finding a holiday whilst on a debt reduction plan.

I'm four months into my debt reduction plan and to date things are going to plan... Yippeee!!
Summer is approaching and everyone except me seems to be booking holidays. I feel my family are entitled to a break.
We've always had holidays spent with relatives (free board and lodgings), however for various reasons I now longer wish to do this.
I want to take my wife and daughter somewhere BUT I DO wish to spend a fortune.
I have a budget of £750 excluding food.
Unfortunately it has to be in school summer holidays.
Where can I go and what can I do for that?
Sorry Butlins alike, camping and kiss me quick style holidays are a no no.
All suggestions greatly appreciated.

you might want to stick this on the holidays board, the experts on this are over there , i reckon:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Borrow a tent. Camping is £15 per night, for the whole family, or less if you shop around. Great fun but lots of back ache. I always seem to need to start the day with 2 ibuprofen & some red bull.
I love late evening with the kids playing with the rugby ball or whatever in the field & a long slow barbecue & a couple of glasses of wine, and sitting looking out to sea.
I could go now if it wasnt so cold

OP is saying NO to camping Bizzylizzie Shame, I agree camping is the BEST!
OP may want ot comromise and go for a haven style ( theyve changed thier name now, cant remember what to) "camp" with chalets ( own kitchen/bathroom) in France for example, or we went to one near St Ives as kids once. Lovely setting as I recall, and loads of activities for the kids. However 750 is not a lot, and may benefit from waiting to see what last minutes there are on teletext. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? We are going camping this year, 2 weeks in the Dordogne at a lovely site, no "club-aaahse" but a nice pool and a river to paddle in, small shop etc but no arcades which I'm hoping will mean its a bit more classy than a lot of UK sites IYKWIM? Including our ferry crossing, overnighting in hotels both ways, tolls, fuel and the site fees it is costing us £500. Then its food and spending money.
We had previously priced up UK holidays and for that money we could have had a static caravan in Hunstanton for a week.0 -
Why dont you have a look at one of the cheap holidays offered by the sun newspaper. Ive heard that they can be quite good. Some of them are abroad. I havent done it myself but I believe you have to buy the paper and save a certain number of vouchers to qualify. I think one of these schemes has just started as i have seen it advertised recently. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

We went last year, all four of us, to Menorca. We went in October half term (not intentionally, it was fairylights junior's birthday so OH had the time off already) and it cost £504 for all four of us. Not cheap, but nice. We went to the travel agents got all the books for where we were prepared to go to and then spent HOURS trawling through to find the best deal. Our holiday undercut their "best deal" they were putting in the window by more than £50.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 002 :rotfl:0

OP why don't you give the holiday a miss this year and save up for the type of holiday you want. I know it's hard this will be my first year without a holiday in my entire life, but I have things I want more.Barclaycard 3800

What about centre parks?
This is not your normal Butlins style camps. My wife went on your hen weekend their and she loves it. We've booked to go this June with our first son of 13 months. Plenty to do for the kids and as a famliy.
I'm guessing it won't be the cheapest in the summer holiday, but what will be?
Hope this adds to your list of ideasRegards,
Dave
