Help....advice needed!

Hi All,

I'm a complete novice when it comes to technical things and I'm after a bit (a lot!) of advice regarding my laptop.

I keep getting told that I'm low on disk space, however I don't want to delete something that i shouldn't. I see a lot of people have posted hikack this logs which seems to give people an idea of what to get rid of etc. Please can someone point me in the right direction to do this so i can start sorting out my memory problem.

Thanks very much.

Rob

    start with this

    http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

download and install (watch out to untick the box so that it does not install the yahoo toolbar) and then do a scan and let it remove all it finds

    Thanks Browntoa.

Just downloaded and used ccleaner and it removed 32Mb but I'm still getting the message "low disk space".

    Any other ideas?

go to start , then control panel, then add/remove programs and uninstall anything like toolbars etc that you do not use , sometimes PC's come preloaded with AOL etc that you do not use and can be safely removed

Cheers Browntoa, just done that and removed everything that I dare but still getting the message!

What I'm trying to do is render a home movie but it doesn't want to do it whilst there's low disk space.

    What's next?

are you recording it direct from the camera output, i've had that when the quality settings are too high and it filled my hard disk up !!

now use WinDVD creator (are you using Movie Maker ?? )

No I'm not recording it direct from the camera output. I've downloaded the project into Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum, edited it and now trying to render to burn to dvd.

I'm now trying windvd creator and I've managed to make the temp files go to my remote hard drive. It seems to be working at the moment (touch wood!).

This still doesn't resolve the problem that my c drive seems to be full though......??
