If you decide to have a seperate contract, you may want to consider other networks such as vodafone and 3.0

I am totally confused?? not unusual tho!!
My situation is that i am often travelling around, London/birmingham etc etc, but also Will be in India regularly, and would be really handy to have access for mails websites etc. SOmetimes just pulling over into a layby to sort stuff, sometimes in hotels, this works out expensive (and impossible in India)!!
So if i for example went over to India or some other country, what would i need to do in order to sign up to some network whilst there, dont want to pay £40 per month via mobile, or could i do this on a basis where i just signed up for a month when i knew i was going to be away??
Step by step easy instruction please, having difficulty getting my head round this one?? your help is much appreciated tho.
thanks0 -
You may want to investigate the cheapness and availability of internet access in India. I was led to believe its very cheap over there.
If you plan on using mobile internet access abroad, using UK contract i would expect it would be very expensive. Its really expensive here as it is....
I would think a 3G mobile data card from any of the mobile networks for use in UK (London-Mancs as you said) would be ideal. Then investigate separately the use of internet in India ... I really think its cheap as chips over there. I have some holiday packer friends saying internet cafes are like pennies over there.0 -
For the 3G datacard. Simply contact one of the networks for a 3G datacard contract. If you are confused you may want to go to one of their shops rather than shop online.
You need to decide how big your usage will be ... if its just collecting emails then a metred package is fine .. if you want to surf the net all the time as well as collect emails you may want the unmetred package available (most expensive).
You will be given a datacard either free or for a price which will connect into your PCMCIA slot on your laptop, usually on the side.
If you got an advanced phone, then perhaps you can connect your phone to your laptop (instead of purchasing a card but everything else is the same). I think a shop who can see your phone and laptop as well as your requirements will help you the best. Remember to look at more than one shop to get best deal.0
