accessing ebay history...

Hi there

I'm looking for a bit of advice for my brother...

A few years ago he purchased an item on ebay through Paypal (Paypal account has since been closed due to a dispute with someone he later sold a different item to). For reasons that I don't really want to go into he now finds himself in a position where he needs to prove that the item he bought all that time ago was his to sell - basically he's been accused of stealing it! Unfortunately ebay history does not go back anywhere near far enough and he can longer access the Paypal account with which it was purchased.

So what I want to know is does he have any chance of eBay or Paypal opening up their records for him and who do we contact as there seems to be no phone number readily available and emails are just being ignored.

Any help would be much appreciated.

The only way I can think of would be to go back through the Paypal account but he no longer has access to that. I doubt eBay keep records that far back, and don't know how you'd get anywhere with Paypal as he's looking to access an account he no longer has access to.

Paypal number is: 08707 307 191 (although it's probably worth going through No to 0870 and finding an alternative)

Any achived emails confirming the sending of the money by paypal available?

How was the paypal purchase funded?

If it was from an existing balance, then it will be difficult unless paypal can help, but if from a bank account or credit card, perhaps you those records will show the payment?
