    Hi again Inactive,

    Ok, will do.

The cable appears to be connected properly to the LNB and the self amalgamating tape shows no damage.

I can't thank you enough for your help...and others who have advised too. :T

    I owe you a beer  !!

    Best Regards.

    Hi,

Everything has been working OK but we just had a lot of rain and lost all channels on SKY. I got the message that the satellite signal is not being recieved.

Now the rain has eased off, the channels have returned but signal strength is under 50% at the moment.

So what do I need to do to avoid losing the channels in future when the weather gets bad?

    Thanks
    Regards

    Hi,

OK, it sounds like further adjustment is required at the dish/LNB, repeat advice given above until signal quality / strength improves further.

Make sure that there are no tree's / tall bushes in the " line of sight " of the dish.

You could fit a small clear poly bag (freezer bag) and cable tie over the LNB and connector. Make a small drain hole in the bottom of the bag to let condensation out.

How will that improve the signal?

Inactive - Thanks, I'll try again. I have no tree's / tall bushes in the " line of sight " of the dish.

    Pssst - what's that about? I'm curious

    Regards.

Often tall bushes/trees etc can reduce the signal from the satellite, great that you have none.

The Poly Bag?...I have no idea ..:rotfl:

It certainly would not improve signal.:D

Ill try to help you again(did you read the other post^?)

If you have problems when it rains you either have water ingress where the F connector goes into the lnb, water ingress into the lnb casing or water into the cable via a nick or damage- which ever way if its when it rains its water getting in somewhere

Water will usuall improve the signal on a rusty dish as its got a good surface again rather than a rusty 1

Ive already said what to do to correct the signal so do that (so did Inactive)and it'll get lined up again, just takes 2 people, 1 to move it about and 1 to watch the levels

Or just give up on this lot and get sky out to replace it all in a service call £££ vs hassle thats what i'd do if it wasnt my job anyway. If you ring them and they say its gonna be £60 tell them you'll cancel and they usually just send someone out anyway.

Water on a dish will have no significant effect on the signal, it will have a very slight detrimental effect on the face of the LNB, but again, nothing to worry about.
