Wood Panelling, how to follow the shape of a sink?

Hi,
I have been trying to use wood panelling to give my bathroom a makeover. (Redecoration was forced upon me as we had a leaky pipe)
We used to have a sheet of ply board under the sink, which was painted the same as the walls, this had been trimmed pretty close to the pattern of under the wash hand basin. I still have the piece of board but when I try to use it as a template it doesn't work because the wood panels are individual and don't seem to get close enough to the sink
I've spent nearly all day grovelling around under the sink and I am no further on and a pack of panelling wasted. Not to mention the number of times I have hit my head of the sink, belted my fingers with the hammer and nicked myself with the stanley knife
Please can someone help suggest a way to do this,
Thank you.

you can get somthing i think is called a former it is flat has loads of pins you push it up to what you need to go round and it just replicates the shape then you just transfer it to the panels it works on the same basis as those novalty gadgets with the metal pins were you put your handor face in it and the pins adjust to the shape of your face0

Try making a cardboard template, cheaper than wasting panels. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

To clarify, I have the piece of ply board that used to be there and I am struggling with the wooden cladding, sorry if I wasn't clear.
This is a much more difficult job than i ever imagined!!pinkpinkfizz

Lay enough panels together on the floor to cover the front of the sink, make sure one panel is directly in the centre of the sink, measure from the floor to the lowest point then use the old ply template and mark all of the panels at once.
Take them apart, cut them, then put/fix them back together under the sink.In wood we trust.0 -
might be easier if you can remove the sink from the wall and fully panel behind it.0

Thank you to everyone who replied with their helpful hints.
I somehow managed to get a pretty good template from the old ply board and the rest of the boards just followed suit.
now I'm off to bed with an ice pack for my sore hand and a rest before I get the rest of the decorating done tomorrow! No rest for the wicked:A:rolleyes2
Cheers everyone.pinkpinkfizz
