Ibiza - Portinatx - what's it like?

Hi there - have been told Portinatx in Ibiza is great quietish holiday location - must be honest bit worried as went to San Antonio years ago and thought the place was a party party island....

anyone been to Portinatx? would it be good for relaxing holiday for two with some dinners out and beaches?

Can anyone recomend any good apartments or hotels? And is it worth hiring a car to see rest of the island or get there from the airport?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

We went to Club Portinax hotel in 2006 but it was All Inclusive so we didn't eat out, from what i can remember there arent enough restaurants in the resort to eat at a different 1 every night it is quiet, but the beach is lovely, definitely a relaxing holiday. I would hire a car as its only a small island and its quite easy to drive round. You could call at the other nice places Cala Llonga and Es cana and visit the party places as well i've heard Ibiza Town is an experience not to be missed. I have also stayed in Playa d'en Bossa and San Antonio Bay i did prefer these but only cause they were busier Portinax was too quiet for me.

We went there a couple of years ago and had a lovely time. It is quite hilly but we hired a car and went out everyday. There are some lovely little coves all around that area very quiet too. We stopped at S'Arenal apts which overlook the little bay there, super apts ( not sure if they are in the brouchures now tho' ). The weather was fab ( end of Sept ) but there is/was a funny drainy smell all around the resort which we noticed not sure if it was just at that time or is there all the time. Enjoy !
Forgot to say a minibus took us from the airport ( package hol ) and there were plenty of eating places there.

Extremely picturesque little place. It is very quiet but we liked it so much we went there twice. Stayed in the Thomson-run Hotel Presidente, which was very good for a family holiday, but isn't right on the beach.
