Postal orders?

I have just sold an item and the buyer has emailed me to ask for my address as they want to send me a postal order. I requested payment through Paypal or personal cheque - should I accept a postal order (never even seen one before!). Is it straightforward paying postal orders in to my bank account?

Many thanks
Miffi

If they're uncrossed Postal Orders then you just hand them over for the cash at the Post Office .

If they're crossed then you have to pay them into a bank account just like you would a cheque.

I just cash them at the post office when i go to post item that has been paid for ... very convinient...unless a seller wants u to pay that way then the amount they cost to buy isnt worth it (for me anyway)

One slight word of warning about postal orders if they sent as uncrossed and with the receipt (and believe me many people send the lot) then it is just like getting cash in the post. If it gets lost it has been my experience that the buyer often gets very cross as they assume the seller is lying about receipt.

I don't take postal orders unless I have to, but when I do I ask for them to be crossed and payable to me and treat them like a cheque.
