yell.com false advertising

Hello,I hope someone can advise me on what to do.I got a call from yell saying they would give me free internet advertising for 8 weeks,to see if i get calls and if i got calls i would be happy to take the contract if not i dont have to.
The problem is they sent me an invoice after 3 weeks saying i owe them £295,because i validated it with an email at the start, even though the sales person was telling me this was for the 8 week free trial.Ive contacted them stating my problem and they say they have not heard of an 8 week free trial and thay will not cancel and i have to pay up because i validated the contract by email.I know another 5 people this has happened to recently. What can i do?

  • Hey there,

I've not had the same problem, but have experienced something similar. As a result, i've started this site which you might find useful: YellScam.org which deals with other Yell Advertising Scams.

Feel free to write a message on it to see if other people are having the same trouble.

    Regards.
  • Hi there we had exactly the same experience. We advertised in our local paper and got a telephone call one night from one of yells sales reps a girl very plausible advising that we could have two months free trial advertising to see how it went she was very persuasive and when I asked her if we could cancel after trial period she said no problem just to get back to her and she would deal with it!!!she even stayed on the phone and helped me send the confirmation email which I stupidly did.
One week later we received a confirmation letter which advised we were due YELL.COM £381.00.
I immediately telephoned Customer Services and advised that I wanted to cancel after the trial period and was advised that there was no such a thing and that I was tied to a twelve month contract.
I have telephoned three times and have been advised to contact the sales rep???
I requested the tape of the telephone conversation and was advised that only 1 in 12 were actually recorded and were then only kept for one month???

I thought YELL.COM were a professional honest company to deal with or I would not have done what I did but unfortunately this is not the case BE WARNED.

I have now gone to the Citizens advice and Rights to see if they can help.

I am definitely not going to pay YELL as I was missold this product.

Anyone else had any dealings with them or any advice would be greatly appreciated.:j
