samsung RSH1 same design flaw as RS21?

Options
Does anyone know? have just got a chunk of ice from the side of the fridge, and it has been making a bit more noise recently. At the base of the light tower thingy, there is an inlet/hole thingy and it seems to be quite icy inside it. Do I need to defrost? anything else necessary? Still have 7 days to take out an extended warranty for £140 for another 3 years, should I?
I'm sorry I didn't put this at the end of the mammoth samsung thread, it seemed to be all about RS21s, and I thought it might get lost, but please move it if it needs to be
Thanks

when looking for a new fridge avoid samsung 2 of my friends are very busy running around the south east fixing samsung fridges
The orginal post in this thread has a very very slim chance of being about money saving. The post is more than likely to ask a question that google could answer better than any of us.

I am told that they appear to suffer the same problem. Whether Samsung admit it and do something about it is a whole other kettle of fish.

I have an RSH1NBRS fridge which a couple of months ago developed a noise like the blades of a fan were just touching something. The cover just below the light tower is removable (a couple of the screws are behind small grille panels which come off fairly easily), one of the screws was buried in ice. The cover may not come off straight away as a build up of ice was holding it in place, this ice had built up such that it was touching the fan blades hence the noise. Don't forget to turn off power to fridge first.

We had a refrigeration engineer round the other day to repair our freezer which had a design fault not Samsung. On his way out he told me dont ever buy a large fridge these American type all have issues, he spends a great deal of time fixed them, he told me not to touch them

I said I heard about Samsung ones and he said they all have faults

Ok, I have removed the screws but the panel wont come off, should it come off easily, or shall I wait for a while for ice to melt?
Am sending off extended warranty application today but it has been making awful noises in the last day or so so thought would try to defrost :(

I've fixed several frost free freezers, all iced up around the fan. No one make, they all do it. The frost free heater is supposed to melt the ice, but if it's a very damp day, and the door isn't quite shut, or the seal has something stuck on it, wet air causes too much ice on the freezer fins, so it only partially melts, then refreezes and usually blocks the drain holes. Then it just builds up. Remove the cowling if you can, then remove all the ice, and clear the drain holes. I usually use a hairdryer to help melt the ice.

Our frost free freezer 17 months old stop working the other week due to poor design. The element at the back which is suppose to defrost iced up over time and stop it from working properly. I lost a whole freezer worth of food

The sensor has now been moved, it wa a known design fault
