Moved on Friday after a worrying Wednesday afternoon. Got a call to say the buyer of the person buying my house was pulling out due to my buyer not getting his mortgage on time. Resolved after 5 hours negotiating by EA and solicitors. We have moved into new house, my buyer has moved into my old house but no money has been paid at all. Contracts exchanged on Friday 11am and moved out at 1pm, talk about a rush move ! Very stressful situation.....never again. Hopefully complete next Thursday. Seems strange to be in a new house and not paid any money though.

Fortunate rather than strange?? You could have been sitting outside for days. Or living in the back of the removal van.
Did once move over 250miles to a new build in the deep South. And next day received a letter from my Bldg Socy (addressed directly to the new place) telling us not to move in 'because it wasn't finished'. Unfortunately - they were right! 3 months later before the Bldg Socy released 50% they decided to retain until garage / paths / fences etc were completed.
Some memories best not remembered? If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -

Very scary. Luckily all the solicitors involved saw common sense and we all agreed it was the only way forward. Problem was caused by someone in the chain insisting that if they didn't move on Friday they would pull out regardless of what happened. As their threat was taken seriously by all in the chain, everyone panicked. Problems with my buyers mortgage not being ready didn't help matters. Just shows what can be achieved when it all looks doomed to failure.0
