Help! Honeymoon suggestions

I've mentally been around the world trying to think of where to go on honeymoon. As we've travelled quite a bit over the last few years thinking of something special is proving to be a lot harder than I thought.
We need to depart July 23rd for about 2 weeks, budget around £4k (this could stretch a bit).
So far we've looked at:
African Safaris (limited availabilty, costly)
Far East (weather concerns & just got back from Singapore)
Dubai (was there last year but really liked it)
France/Spain (current fav, renting a country villa)
He likes trips out and suff to do/see, she likes lazing in the sun. We both like our luxuries!
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

My suggestion would be Malaysia - Perhaps a few nights in KL and then spend a couple of weeks on some of the Islands (I liked Penang and Langkawi) but some of the others are supposed to be very good too (Pangkor Laut (private island) is supposed to be amazing and I think within budget). Borneo is good for wildlife (orangutans).
Flights are ~£600 but rooms in 5* hotels are only ~£60 a night, food is lovely and cheap, shopping is great too. Overall, its combining a lot of things in one holiday - city, beach, culture, great food, shopping, wildlife... you get the picture.
I love Malaysia and would love to go back yet again!
Another holiday which I really enjoyed and is quite romantic is Italy, what about Rome, Sorrento and Capri, or Venice and Florence, or the lakes. Lots of things to see and do...again culture, food, shopping, scenery, luxury hotels...etc.
I have never been, but my friends really enjoyed their honeymoon in Hawaii, you could also stop off in LA and NY as that is one of the flight routes.
Anyway - I'm sure you will make the right choice for you both and have a perfect honeymoon!0 -
Nowt like a week in Blackpool - with good old Blackpool Rock, or Morecombe, you could do a bit of cockle picking if you get bored.

For our honeymoon (although years ago now) we did a 7 day coach tour of West USA, taking in Grand Canyon, Cottonwoods, Phoenix, Las Vegas etc, then flew to Hawaii for 10 days.
Highly recommended.

give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
you should list where you have been allready.
We're the same, I need to do stuff she wants to laze around.
We just had our honeymoon did a 11 day cuise from new york to the caribean.
Theres plenty to do on the boat and plenty of excursions too.
Cost £2200 plus flights with private balcony0 -
How about Hawaii, combined with a multi stop trip in America (San Francisco, San Diego, Las Vegas, New York etc.) to break the flight up. Lots of beaches and lots to do.
I agree with Nelly about the cruise (nothing beats it) .. lie about if you want or be as adventurous as you want ... however be aware that in July you might have the odd hurrican eabout the Caribbean .. instead of that you could try a cruise down the west coast of Mexico (Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco etc.)
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
On our honeymoon short list we had:
Maldives - always wanted to go there! Plenty places to laze about, but didn't seem to be much else to do.
Maurituis - this had beautiful beaches, and the island looked very varied. There was a good mix of things to do and plenty places to laze about. This ended up in second place and I'd still love to go one day.
Our first choice was Mexico. I didn't like the sound of Cancun - it sounded too American-y and basically geared up round tourists.
We're heading further south to Playa Del Carmen. This is more Mexican and looks like it's going to be great fun. There's a good mix of restaurants and bars in the town and beautiful beaches.
We've booked trips to Chichen Itza and Tulum to see ruins left by the Mayan people. Their history is very interesting and my children have enjoyed learning about them. We're going to see cenotes on the trips too, which are sort of drain holes for underground cave systems. One has a flooded cavern where you snorkle through and look at the stalegtites and stalegmites. I love them and I'm looking forward to that!
We're also planing a trip to Xel-Ha which is a natural water park. It's like a big aquarium, except you snorkle through the inlets watching the fish in their natural habitat. There are also land based activities too, and they have dolphins. My children are really excited about this!
I'm off there next Monday and I'm really looking forward to it nowHere I go again on my own....0 -
Last year on our honeymoon we went to hawaii, stayed 5nights in a Hotel ... just to chill out and recover from the stressfulness of getting married and the months of preperations, we then did a 7night cruise around the Hawaiian islands (great way of capturing everthing the hawaiian islands have to offer, each one being very different, (we did the pride of Aloha cruise through Norwegian cruise line) we then finsihed our honeymoon off with a stopover in Vegas ( stayed at the venetian hotel, which is a mini venice...for a bit of romance) and did the helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon. It cost us £3900 all in all booked through United Vacations, but if you were to package it seperately i am sure your would get it much cheaper.... just requires a little more planning. Have a fantastic time whatever you decide upon, and all the very best for the wedding plans etc0

playa del carmen in mexico is a beautiful place and so different to cancun. the trip to chitzen itza is amazing. i would thoroughly recommend taking the ferry from playa and going over to cozumel and going to the local ecological park 'chankanuub park'. they have dolphins there too and the reef is the 2nd best in the world - fantastic for snorkelling and diving. i would recommend chankanuub over xel-ha, but we didn't have kids so can see why you are looking at xel-ha.

i love mexico and it is a really great place to go for any holiday and especially a honeymoon. departing 23rd july is not a good time to head for riviera maya/playa del carmen/cancun. as previously mentioned the west coast of mexico does not have the hurricane threats like the carribean coast during july. we are going to neuvo vallarta (next to puerto vallarta, but not a big & touristy) in 8 weeks time. also the bottom of mexico 'hautulco' is apparently very beautiful and untouched and has just started having packages go through first choice or eclipse direct. there would be no hurricane worries there either in july/aug. but you would struggle to spend your £4K. Our holiday for both of us in a premier hotel is just under £1500 for both of us. at the time you are going i would avoid many of the carribean islands due to the threat of hurricanes, i went in september and got caught up in one and whilst it didn't ruin the holiday it wasn't good!
my other recommendations for a honeymoon in july would again be italy as previously discussed and perhaps a luxurious resort on a less touristy greek island perhaps skiathos or santorini. depending on where you go thailand/far east is rainey season. koi samui is a better bet in thailand for that time of year compared to phuket / traing area. canada seems to be a popular choice for honeymoons and if you can cope with the long flight what about australia or the south pacific - bora bora is meant to be a honeymoon paradise or many other fantastic islands fiji, cook islands, tahiti.
post back what you decide. a good travel forum for advice/info is https://www.holidaytruths.co.uk

We're going to Italy for our honeymoon on 30th July (wedding 29th!). We're spending 4 nights in Rome, followed by 7 nights in a luxury hotel near Lake Trasimeno. Total cost, including flights, is £1200.................. for the two of us. Oh, and including car hire.
Unfortunately, we've got to get back to England for a friend's wedding for 12th August. The problem with travelling on a Sunday is that villas all seem to be rentable from Saturday to Saturday.

Hi. We went to New York (4 days) then Las Vegas (6 days) Hawaii (10 days) San Fran(3 days) London (2 days). We really enjoyed the different places. Vegas and San Fran was our favourite.
Loads to see and do in Vegas and San Fran highlights – Alcatraz and camping-Grand Canyon.0
