Careful here...we ordered a pair - they both had faults (won't hold their charge...even after fresh batteries)...got in touch with Edirectory, they referred us to another tel number...constant answer machine.
Methinks these are returned phones that have faults & some entrepreneur has come up with the wheeze of sellling them on & then not being contactable after the sale!0 -
And what's the audio quality as perceived by the person at the other end of the line? The Lidl "cocoon" phones I have are fairly crap in this respect. I'm wondering if all cheap DECT phones are like this.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

re: phone audio quality - my sister bought a quad set of Philips cordless digital phones from Argos recently (not this model no.) after being happy with her previous Philips cordless. The new ones are much worse - kind of echo-y, audio cuts out intermitantly.0

Ah, thanks - not good. My phones seem to be in a sort of "speakerphone" mode all the time which interferes with two-way communication and sounds rather like the problem you have. But the main thing is the speech heard by the person at the other end of the line is rather distorted - not nearly as clear as from a traditional telephone. I am inclined to think that this is cheap and nasty microphones or bad design in the handsets, rather than a fundamental limitation of DECT.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

gromit - you are spot on - "speakerphone" is exactly how it sounds. We have a BT cordless digital phone which is fine (though buttons are starting to go) so I am looking for a good BT set after Christmas (tough I guess they are made by someone else for them). My sister also says that outside reception is much poorer on her new Philips.0

My phones arrived yesterday (I missed the delivery on thursday).
I have charged them for 24 hours (as instructed) & entered some contact numbers. This worked fine, bearing in mind the lcd screens don't have the flashy resolution of mobile phones. Just thought I'd mention that as these are my 1st cordless phones.
I had only just set them up & my mum called me. She said the sound was fine, and "less echo than before, though that could have been because of the room". She just said this, I didn't ask her about any echo, just what the sound quality was like.
I am using these with a sip adapter and my sipgate account. Any questions, just askdesrever sthgir lla0 -

Thanks, bellamy, but I've already ordered these BT freestyle 2200 twin 'phones from the BT shop for £19.99. Not as many features, though they are GAP compatible, and postage is a hefty £5.99.
