Hi guys, When somebody sends me a .jpg file, the PC seems to want to opem it with some application called Coral photo album 6 which I seem to have a trial with. Can I delete this Coral application and just open jpgs with Windows Explorer or something? How?
Also, I can't read .ppt or .xls files. Do I need to buy ms office for these or am I better off getting open office?

You can indeed get rid of Coral but ofcourse you would have to associate
the files with a program ie. try picasa its a small photo program.
After install it may ask you to associate files if not go to one of your pictures
that may be stored in the mY Pictures folder and then right click it, Open With
then choose program then tick always use this program then OK.
Yes you will need Open Office or MS Office for the other question.
PPT = Powerpoint, Xls = Excel File.0 -
Thanks Electron. I don't want to do anything flash with photos, I just want to open them. Is Picasa best for that? My old PC just uses windows explorer I think.
I am quite experienced with Excel & PPoint. How good is open office?0 -
Picasa is simple small and neat go for it http://picasa.google.com/
Open Office is Ok for a freebie its either that or ebay for an Office CD :eek:
Dunno if Power Point is covered tho :think: http://www.openoffice.org/0 -

If you're running Windows XP then you can use the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer to display images (.jpg, .gif etc). This page shows how to change the default viewer back to the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.
If you only need to read .xls and .ppt files and not edit them then you can use Excel Viewer 2003 and PowerPoint Viewer 2003 respectively.0 -
