Hi All
Has anyone bought a travel insurance policy off a price comparison website and had to make a claim. Prices look good but never heard of most of the companies. Any one got any feedback on the claims proces good ones and bad ones?

They are generally underwrittenn by a handful of companies, personally i would avoid anything underwritten by Axa or White Horse.
If you are looking at prices on comparison sites please check the excesses first as the top listed companies will quote you with an excess of up to £250 which is a lot to pay and is often PER PERSON. Scroll a bit further down and you can probably find a decent company with an excess of only £50 and it is often per claim rather than per person0 -
yeah saw that the cover varies widely as well, prices look good when you compare them the cover can be so different,0

Its nice to see someone who actually reviews what they are buying before buying and looks beyond the price.
We get lots of posters on this forum who blindly take out the cheapest policy without understanding what it covers and / or reading what they are required to.
Well done, very MSE of you0 -
eslick - I support DA's words of wisdom completely - but as we (DA & myself) are bot in similar business we often agree! - but as you asked look carefully at these "never heard" of IC's, as DA states avoid Axa & WH but you'll need to loook at underwriters (often under claims part or at very end of "policy wording" or "important information" sections on line. That's where Axa hides!!!!
Good on line that I deal with = Insure&Go, Moneysupermarket, Tesco, Direct Line/Churchill.C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

whats the issue with WH and AXA ?
the former seems competitive , the latter I've used with little problemAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
They have a reputation for poor service and not paying claims
Have a search of the forums and you will find numerous problems for both.
You could also find many many problems with Axa in the Personal Finance section of the Telegraph where the agony aunt sorts out financial problems0
