Getting in to the library is a problem for me due to the opening hours, I have used the library lots in the past but due to service cuts they shortened the opening hours and closed the branch libraries locally.

  • To save overdue charges.
You can phone the library, Their number is inside the front cover, you also need the number of your card, and renew books you have out.

Anyone interested in books should try
    http://www.readitswapit.co.uk

There is over 32,000 books on there to swap. All free - you just have to pay the postage (usually under a £1.00 for a paperback). Lots and lots of choice and once you've read the book you put it back up for swap.

    I'm totally hooked.
  • Go on visit the library again you will surprised its not just books, there's cds, videos, dvds, children's story time and events, computers to use.
Most libraries are now on line so you can look at their catalogue from home, order books and renew your books. Just look up your library on the web.

I spoke to the girl in my local Waterstones yesterday while buying my second lot of 99p books. She told me the offer is to continue throughout the summer - a new list of books had just come in......she didn't let on what titles but did say it looked good.
  • I'd like to add that I find an audio book subscription at my local library great value. I do lots of long distance driving and having an audio book on the go makes the journey much more interesting, and it feel much less like "empty" time (cue "time saving expert" website).

The selection at my local library looks pretty poor at first glance, but they rotate them regularly with other local libs, so there's always some thing worth a try.
