Redundancy-my experience

I decided to take voluntary redundancy in April. It buys me time till December. The reason I requested it was because I don't feel the company will be offering a good package like this next time. In fact, I don't feel they will survive in the long term. I also wanted a chance to peruse my own work as a musician and photographer which earns royalties. So far, it isn't bringing in an enough as an income so at some point I will have to look for part/full time work. I am claiming job seekers which will end in October which helps a bit.

So far 2 months into my freedom I have mixed feelings. Although I have been working hard on the music and photos, it isn't showing any promise of earning enough to live off as it takes time. Now the days are getting to be the same and it takes a lot of motivation to keep going. I miss the social side of work but the place itself not one jot. I am now feeling quite stressed at the thought of having a job when the redundancy runs out. I have been looking on here at opportunities working from home but haven't really decided if it's for me but I would give it a try.

The question is...do I use the time to get as much work done as I can for my portfolio while job seekers are paying a lot of what a part time job would or do I try and get a job now because of the recession ?
