Picked up a rain battered sprig of purple lunaria yesterday.

Will the seeds germinate even though not yet at the dead-drop stage? They are fullsize, look fully formed, but in no way dried out.

atm they're in water awaiting msers' advice, please:D.

ampersand....would give it a try....I have some at the front of the house andI know that I didn't sow them so they seem to be pretty easy to grow....good luck,

Thankyou mm - oh, have just seen where you are. I'll just start flapping my little mind wings and cross the water.
Shall I just put each little 4-seed disc in a pot?/undo the 'pods' and sew the seed separately? Although as you say, yours just do it themselves, but that is probably down to them dropping when Nature intended.
Might just bury them lightly in garden.Dr H says 10>14 days' germination time, but I'm away for a while next week, hence being a bit more quandaryish than usual. I won't necessarily be here when any next stage is due.

I would let them dry while you are on holiday, then they will come apart easily & you will see if the seeds look fully formed. They probably will be by now. Then sow them, either outside or in a pot. They transplant OK when small.

Carol missed one off. I have the rare Lunaria annua 'purpurea,' which doesn't exist if you Google it! That's what I call it anyway. This has leaves heavily blotched with purple, that become almost metallic. In fact I'm glad you reminded me because the blooming things are in an ice cream tub somewhere at the bottom of my 'seed fridge' and they need sowing!

If anyone knows what this is really called, I'd be grateful.

Your description of those leaves is exactly like these seed discs.
    I'll try and find out.
