    Hi

You do need to go back to the DWP as they owe you back -pay.

And I am sure fermi will post up the details but it is not illegal to open a letter addressed to someone else that is delivered to your house.

It is illegal to tamper with mail if you are a postal worker or for the purposes of facilitating another offence (like fraud).

You certainly do- that is YOUR MONEY in unpaid JSA they have denied you, and similar with HB and CTB too.

As promised here is the address to write to, this department can handle the complaint for all 3 benefits just mentioned.

Lets make a guess on what they owe you ( i'm going to pluck a figure out the air for your rent and c/tax )

    9 weeks JSA @ £64.30 pw = £ 578.70

    9 weeks rent(HB) @ £80 pw= £ 720.00

    9 weeks c/tax(CTB)@ £ 22pw= £ 198.00

    total £ 1496.70

Obviously you will have to adjust this for your actual rent and c/tax costs. If you are over 25yrs then the JSA amount is correct. This will provide your BR costs and backdated benefits DO NOT vest in the trustee so would remain your money.
