Brown Water

We moved recently to a Bungalow. However, I have noticed that the water in the bathroom causes really bad stains. My little boys bathmat has started to look brown and if I leave water in his toys (ducks etc), when i squeeze them out the next day they have brown bits in them. What is causing this?

Is this restricted to the hot water only, or is the cold water the same?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Is it an old bungalow, could the tank in the loft have rust in it ?
Ask neighbours do they have similar problems, that would point to a problem to the main water supply.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
