I've just returned from my local Tesco store and they are offering half price Beef Rump Steaks. Bargain.

    Hiya :)

Might just be me, but I find their beef quite pale and tasteless. Beef is the one thing I pay more money for so I can get a good rib eye of aged Aberdeen Angus. Mmmm.

I got some beef rump steak from our local Tesco last week and if I had been blindfolded could not have said what I was eating..as silcutblue said it was tasteless.

Put it in some waxed paper and leave it somewhere cool for a few days. That will age it a bit and give it some flavour.

Or (in addition to that tip) marinade the steak in a few tablespoons worth of olive oil and coat in a steak seasoning. Leave that in the fridge for a few hours and it makes the world of difference.

I bought a piece last weekend for £13. Cut it into 4 thick steaks. DH an DS said it was lovely.

I'm glad it's not just me then. Would never buy meat from Tesco again - tasteless, bloodless, tough...

    And that's the fillet!
