Bank Charges re-occuring

Hi my situation is a little like 'Toria', who posted about reclaiming bank charges - I could do with a little advice.

Last month Sky tv took more than expected out of my bank account (direct debit) which then meant there wasnt enough money in the account for 2 following direct debits. From this I recieved two bank charges. Because of the days the bank charges were coming out, there was not enough money available to take out - again, resulting in more bank charges.

Ive rang the bank to explain that this situation has escalated and it was initially not my problem! They seemed understanding that I only earn so much & that is just enough for the bills etc. however because I had previously had a bank charge dropped they couldnt drop any others. I did comment that the previous bank charge was the bank's fault and it had been rectified i.e. drop of bank charge but that didnt seem to make a difference.

SO... I went into the bank and explained that this has got out of hand and I will end up with more money going out than I get in. They said as above - they couldnt drop any bank charges & could I cancel my direct debits. This isnt possible as they are household bills.

What can I do? Is it best to make a formal complaint? Eventually this will worsen, leaving me (as mentioned) with more money oweing out for bank charges than for my bills! I cant earn anymore money than I recieve to pay up.

All this from one little direct debit
