I have a HP with a so called "shiny" screen.

The only time I have had any problems with reflections on my laptop, is when trying to use it on sunny days.

It is just the same as with your tv screen etc, just shut a curtain or move to a better place so that you can see the screen properly.

I agree with the OP, those shiney screens are crap, i bought a Dell Mini 10 and sent it back as i couldnt stand the reflection
A lot of them seem to be like this nowadays. But it would be possible to purchase some plastic covering to make it less reflective I think. You would need to Google something like "anti glare film for laptops".
  • I always say if you don't ask you dont get

I would take it back and try and get a refund

the worst they can say is no!!

Took it back and they gave me a refund as told them not happy about the windows 7 upgrade. Went to PC World and got a Compaq one and it was the same price but that bit faster.
