Hi
Bout a laptop last week from tesco but really dont like it due to the reflections comming from the screen really annoys me. There is nothing wrong with it but can I take it back to tesco for a refund (or exchange) under their 28 returns policy? Its not to clear online so was wondering if someone has done this or any advice.
Cheers

If you bought it online it seems to me that you can return it in its unused state within 28 days and get a refund.0

Have you used it or just opened it and seen the reflections?
If you bought online distance selling regulations protect you - if you bought in store then I do not think you will get your money back, you have used it and with computers that can be problematic.
Another option would be to get an anti-glare screen protector, they are very cheap from Ebay. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
what do you mean by refelections of the screen ...?

unfortunately, thats one of the compromises ...you get a clear bright screen that appears to "sharpen" everything up...but at the expense of being quite reflective....you could try better placement or angling the screen...for what its worth, I would never go back to the "dull" type of screen now...
as regards returning the item....you may have a slight problem if you have started it up and registered your details at Microsoft....its now most definitely second hand....having said that, Tescos can be quite good at accepting items for return...all you can do is box it up and ask.I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:0 -
I have used it. Did not buy it online so think i'll just need to keep it. Its a great computer just the screen and it has a bluetooth button on it but when i press it it says no bluetooth device installed (strange) I think i will just keep it, thanks for the advice.0

I bought a laptop from Teso and returned it. That was a year ago, and there was no problem. Staff instore even mentioned it when i bought it..that i could return it within 28 days if it wasn't suitable.
It's possible the return policy has changed, but i would think there is no harm in trying.0 -
The thing with Tesco and the same with Asda they rather just give a refund than get grief from the customer. I found Asda the best at returning things, Tesco are ok but it all depends who you get at the CS till.0

As for the glare, just move away from the light!0 -
Cheers guys.
I think im going to take it back as just spoke to acer and i wont be able to take part in the windows 7 upgrade even though i purchaed it the day after the offer opened due to this laptop being manufactured in december 2008.
Very annoyed at that as that was one of the reasons for buying acer.0 -
I agree with the OP, those shiney screens are crap, i bought a Dell Mini 10 and sent it back as i couldnt stand the reflection0
