Isn't Tuna and Cheese quite expensive.?0
-
Tinned tuna is not that expensive. Not when you compare it with buying meat or fresh fish. Cheese is what i would call a basic food. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

Tescos own tuna chunks is only 29p and it is good for putting in things (like tuna Pasta and Tuna Pie) Flakes are cheaper @ about 25p a tin but I am not too keen on those.
Tuna is also really good for you - all that Omega3 !!
Cheese is something we always have in our "store cupboard".
Thank you Queenie for those links - I am off for a nosey !!

I don't want to be a downer, but I think the omega 3 is mostly destroyed by the canning process in tuna.I think canned sardines, mackerel and pilchards are a good source though. If you want omega 3 from tuna I think you have to eat it fresh, expensive
I might be wrong about this, does anyone else know?0 -
Ohhh maybe your right

Thats right, I love fresh tuna though especially rare with wasabi and sweet potato and coconut mash.Pawpurrs x0 -
Thinly sliced potato and onion or leek layered in a shallow dish, season each layer with salt and pepper, add some chopped bacon if you have any (cut out the salt if using bacon) add a little milk or cheese sauce, microwave for about 17mins. You can brown it under the grill is you like, sprinkled with a little cheese if you only used milk. Yummy.0

"Tuna only counts as an oily fish when it is fresh. This is because when it is canned the omega 3 oil levels are reduced to similar levels to that of white fish, so although canned tuna is a healthy option it doesn’t have the same health benefits as fresh oily fish."
Found this written by Laura Meads on http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk/diet/healthy_eating/oily_fish.htm
Seems some interesting stuff on there.
My cheapest meal must be baked potato with tuna, sweetcorn and mayo.We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.

Three course lunch:-
Three slices of toast.
The first still hot and buttered.
The second as a savoury course, so buttered and then salt and pepper works surprisingly well, or perhaps bovril or marmite, or pate, or a spread...
The third for pudding, so buttered(optional) and then jam, or curd, marmalade...
There ya go - a three course filling lunch - if you cut your bread thickHi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there.
