Is Morrisons getting more expensive?

Does anyone else think this? I have been doing most of shopping at Lidls with the odd foray into 'regular' supermarkets, but I thought I would go into Morrisons again as there was one where I was heading. After doing a shop at Asda and it came to less than i thought at the checkout,(which was nice:D ) i had the reverse at Morrisons. There were quite a few things on BOGOF but not any on the stuff i needed. I've been in a sainsbury lately and got quite a bit of shopping, including their basics, only if I'm in that area but was a bit stagggered by the morrisons bill, especially as I was really careful and being half term didn't let the kids put in their requests!
I looked on the tesco website and the items I wanted, every day things not way out did seem to come up cheaper, but i'm not really a fan of tesco. However I may start doing an online shop with them if I can get any discounts !!

I think they are becoming more expensive - in gradual steps. Like you I am not a tesco fan, so tend to go to morrisons early evening when they have brilliant reductions.

i think you could be right. they seem to rely on their bogoff deals to get customers in store and then charge higher on other items

I'm a student and I work in morrisons on the checkouts. I don't think that they have really put the prices up on things but they have got a lot more of the expensive types of the products (the best etc.) Don't quote me on that though!!!

You could be right about the 'best' products. I bought a pack of four 'best' peaches at 9p on the reduced to clear stand. I was staggered to find that they were reduced from £2.99. That's 75p per peach!!! To be honest they weren't much better than the large everyday punnet (also 9p!) that I bought at the same time.

Also another M employee here. :o

I think its swings and roundabouts. Somethings are cheaper. Somethings are more expensive. I have noticed a lot of price changes in the past few weeks. Most of the stuff has gone up, but some stuff has gone down. Never believe the Tescos price checker because the stuff that is cheaper is often conviently listed as "not found" or the wrong price.

Own label 500ml water sports cap Tesco 28p Sainsburys 49p Morrisons N/F Asda 28p

I can't believe they didn't find any because they order cases of the stuff its so popular. It's in the fridges, petrol station, dump bin, as well as on the shelf. For 28p

Morrison's fresh salmon fillets have gone up by £1.50 a kilo over the last few months. They used to do 'special offers' at £4.99 per kilo, but not any more.
  • I didn't use the price checker I used the tesco website as though I was doing a shop - its saved so I may use it!
I'm finding the fresh stuff more expensive, I don't really go shopping any more in the evenings because although I would get the cheap stuff, Mr HQ would always find something we needed to buy urgently and it would bump up the shopping. We have drawers of cds and dvds and its surprising how we now just tend to buy them for birthdays and xmas and not weekly!
i haven't been buying much of the best items, so couldn't really comment on the price, I think the cheese has gone up and things like cans of tuna, they seemed to have lost their cheap range of bags of indian and other spices, unless i couldn't find them because they've shifted everything again!
I just noticed there seems to have been a couple of pennies put ona lot of the itmes i normally buy- if i was using them continually then maybe i wouldn't have noticed so much.

I find their basic prices are more expensive, but they have many more BOGOF's and other special offers compared to other supermarkets.

I wondered if they are more expensive on the base prices to cover the costs of all the special offers?
Here I go again on my own....
