Won Auction No Tickets

I won an auction in december for tickets to a show in London, I live in Inverness. Today I was informed, after sending countless emails and finally threatening the police, by the seller that bookingsdirect has cancelled all his tickets as he is an unlicensed seller. He then almost accussed me of informing on him. Then he said he will send a cheque out in the post some time next week.
I sent him an email requesting he refund me by paypal as it was a long time ago I am , not happy, but will ask for my £219 back and pay the costs myself. I then asked him to pay for my flights and the cost of the hotel I booked.
Am i being unreasonable? What is his liability in this case? He had a 100% feedback until this morning, when I left negative feedback (which is the first time in nearly 500 auctions).
He said i was obviously annoyed, spitting feathers i'd say.
Thanks for any advice in advance.

If you paid through Paypal you should of started a chargeback months ago, why have you left it so long?
I doubt he is liable to pay for any flights or hotels you have booked.

I would suggest his contract is to provide you with tickets - other costs are your concern not his. You may be able to get a token payment to reflect your inconvenience but I doubt he has any liability in respect of flights or hotels.Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0

I would say his responsibility ends with the supply of the tickets - anything else is consequential and up to yourself.0

Cut your losses. You won't get the money back.0 -
Realistically you have very little leverage to even get your money back, let alone additional compensation.
Just keep your fingers crossed that the promised cheque is really in the post.

Why dont you buy the tickets from a reputable source this time - or even better when you are in London go to one of the ticket booths that are scattered around and buy tickets - you can often get pretty cheap ones on the day!
Couple of sites to get tickets:

greytroot,
All around London there are cheap ticket sales offices for shows. They only sell that days performance tickets.
There is on nea Picadilly Circus Underground station. When I was there, I got front row seats for The Complete Works Of Shakespeare in 90 Minutes for less than half price. Very Funny!!
There also used to be one at Kings Cross Tube Station. Look around, they are usually just a small shop with loads of posters outside advertising cheap show seats.
Hope this helpsMy broad mind and narrow waist are slowly swapping places!!0 -
I was taking my son to see WWE Raw on 21 April. He is 11 so I need something about that level. Thanks again. You cant take the trousers off an elephant!0
