lloyds tsb reclaim

how customer friendly are lloyds? i cam currently 830 overdrawn with a pyament plan of £10 a month. i have incurred charges including interst of 3k in 18 months! as this is way above £500 per eyar would they be likely to agree hardship? we do struggle with the bills each month but it islargely due to huge wedding commitments as oppose to 100% genuine hardship. whats your views? worth claiming or not?

    Worth claiming. Yep.

Have you got priority debt arrears(mortgage/rent, council tax, utilities)?

in truth, no. struggling to pay, yes, but again it is due to wedding bills which will be over with next month.

You can claim charges back but it isn't a hardship claim. They will acknowledge the claim.

As a complete aside, congratulations to you and the other half:beer:

thanks. i feel guitly implying financial hardship when we be on a 5star island in the maldives soon on honeymoon. foolish with money yes, genuine utter harsdhip no. is it likely the court case will go in consumers favour? if it is then i am tempted to do nothing, 8% interest on 3k is not abad earner

we are getting near the 50% of the case being done and dusted in the consumers favour. We will see.

Very nice honeymoon, btw. Make sure you have the wedding taped as most couples rarely remember the day ;)

sorry to pin you down so much but you seem to be fairly up to speed wth tha case. do you thnk it is pretty certain the case will go in consumers favour? if so, how quickly once the final decision is made iwll people get their money? i guess it will be an admin disaster for the banks. any realsitic estimate on when it will be done?
will the banks bother with the european courts, as they tend to be so pro consumer surely they see there is no point? between us in total we have about 4.5k in charge son bank accounts in the last 6 years, so this will make a huge difference if it all happens

You can go back to July 2001 under the FSA Waiver on Bank Charges.
I have no idea on what will happen after the decision is made but simply how things are today. There is in my opinion a mindblowing amount of scenarios if the bank loses and how the decision is worded. Too many to count.
one estimate is 2010 but this is a rough estimate.

i was hoping it would be soon but i realise it is likely to be ages. do you think the banks genuinely believe they will win? maybe anything you heard at natwest? i don't mind if it means the end of free banking, infact i support chargeable banking, maybe then the banks will provide a better service, most other countries charge, i think we in the UK have grown to used to get something for nothing.
with regards to the case currently being heard, which i believe an answr is due in the autumn, is this going to be the end or just another false hope?

If you see my signature, I don't work for them anymore so I have no inside information. I doubt the bank would defend themselves if they believed they would lose.
I think we need a change in banking to a fairer system.
