Should I appeal?

Hi, I have just received a penalty charge notice from my local council for a contravention code 30 - parked for longer than permitted.

There are no yellow lines on the road but when I saw the notice on my windscreen I looked down the road about 4 cars down and saw the sign regarding parking allowed for one hour and 'no return policy'. I had parked there for well more than 1 hour !

Is it even worth appealing even though I think it unfair they don't have yellow lines?

Many thanks.

Could you post more details, copy of pcn (both sides) possibly photo's of the street and sign etc. There's not really enough info for anyone to give any ideas.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

I haven't taken any photo's. Guess all I'm asking is shouldn't there have been yellow lines to indicate parking restrictions?
    Many thanks.

There is no obligation for councils to extend the discounted period.
