Left hot water tap on all day :(

Hi all.

I am such a fool. I left my hot water tap running today (it's been a tough few weeks so my mind is shot) and so I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out the cost.

It was running relatively hard for about 8.25 hours. I'm completely gutted.

I am not sure of my rates but my estimate for the year is £420 for a one bedroom flat. My boiler is a combi so it was hot all day. Also trying to work out how much water that would have been.

Please help me at least brace myself for the effects of my stupidity.

Andy

Really? Oh man, if that's true I may not commit harikiri tonight. How about if we add in the cost of the water?

Unless you know the flow rate, it would be difficult to calculate.

However a reasonable figure would be 5 litres a minute. So about 2.5 cubic metres in 8.25 hours. Depending where you live, from £5 to £10.

The whole exercise will be less than £20 in cost I would think. That is even if KimYeovil's estimate for gas is a little on the low side - and that depends on boiler output.
