It has taken many months and much of my sanity but we seem to have our benefits in place. Hubby had to give in and finish work last year as his disabilities were taking their toll. The benefits system, as you all know, is a minefield. We spent November to February living on my last wage and god knows how we did it! The final straw was when our beloved car was stolen and destroyed, hubby was house bound until I rented a wheelchair. But all went right for once as his Motability had come through and 2 weeks later we got our car. Finding this site has also helped me a great deal and I wish I had known about it when we were going through all the hassle with DLA etc. But hey thats life, and I am on here every day now. The thing I want to say mainly is - once your benefits are in place you then have other things you can claim for, that you really need, especially for a carer. I have just had a grant for breaks for myself and am hoping to get a grant for extra bedding for Hubby. I joined my local carers forum after going to an information day and they have been a great help.
