which payed for landlord forum and software

i am very close to becoming a landlord of multiple properties and have been reading up like crazy.

some questions i have are:

1. which payed for landlord association is best for a newbie landlord to get information and documentation downloads to enable me to get started in an official capacity rather than doing it cash in hand.

2. is there some decent pc software out there that can help with being a landlord, anyone have experiences with these programs?

3. i see there are sites that offer documentation as a one time payment and download, is this documentation reusable for several tenancies, is the same documentation available from landlord association forums once a subscription has been payed for?

thanks

    1. It's entirely a matter of personal preference - have a look at the websites for the RLA and the NLA and see what they both offer for your personal set-up. Many of the local LL associations seem to be affiliated to the NLA and it is the larger of the two. As an alternative , or an addition, you may want to have a look at Tessa Shepperson's Landlordlaw site. She is a specialist LL&T solicitor.

Joining any of those three will (a) be tax deductible and (b) get you discounts on some LL insurances.

2.Dont really want to give free plugs for software companies but there is one that ties in with Sage accounting. However, many LL simply devise thier own systems using spreadsheets & basic integrated software.

3.As you haven't said which sites, your best bet is surely to email them direct and ask. Are you just asking about the tenancy agreement itself?

Landlordzone is a great free resource and has a lively forum - much better-informed than here within that specialist field.

in regards to question 3, i want to know if the ast and section 8 and 21 notices and the like, are available from the rla or nla once you have payed to join?
