Does anyone know how to get a Visa card which generates points which might be fed into One World Alliance so I can get Qantas frequent flyer points. I can get an AMEX card, which I already have, but I need a Visa/Mastercard too.

I think if you're an australian resident, then Qantas frequent flyer points are awarded on a number of different cards. See here for the full list. As some of the card companies are global (i.e. Amex, Citibank), it may be worth a call to check if you could apply. Remember to post back here if you find out any info - I for one would be interested having racked up 125,000 qantas frequent flyer points.
Also, do you stay at Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express ?
If so, you can register for their free Priority Club where you can collect 600 qantas points per stay (regardless of number of nights).
A number of other UK hotels also issue qantas points for stays, including Marriott & Hilton.
Happy Christmas.

Yeah I have a UK and Australian Amex, and the little known fact is you can transfer membership rewards internationally once a year. I have an Australian Visa to collect Membership rewards -- yes Citibank, but I can't find a UK Visa which will get points into the system. Citibank here wont do it, and First Direct gives you a big nothing. What a waste!0

Herodotus,
I've just checked the Citibank UK website and it says that you can earn One World points with their Citi AAdvantage Visa Gold Card.
Specifically, it says "American Airlines is a member of the oneworld™ alliance. Other members include Aer Lingus, British Airways, Finnair, Cathay Pacific, LanChile, Iberia and Qantas. AAdvantage miles can be redeemed for flight awards on American Airlines and oneworld™ alliance members, as well as other AAdvantage airline participants. Miles can also be earned for hotel stays with over 35 hotel chains representing 75 brands and car rentals with seven companies."
Hope this helps.

Hey Love Child
Thanks for this. Yes I had just found this out too. Sadly, however, although the points can enter the One World system, they cannot move from American Airlines in to Qantas and the programmes maintain separate points 'silos.'
Thanks so much for being so helpful, and Happy Christmas and Happy New Year to you.0 -
