Hi,
I'm trying to upgrade the RAM on the Dell offer that was on here a few weeks ago. I've opened the panel on the back with the three screws and slotted the card in and pushed it down. I'm pretty sure I've done this correctly as it clicks into place. But when I rebooted the machine and went to Windows property it still says 248MB RAM, so does that mean it didn't work? Or do I need to do something in Windows to install it or to recognise it?
P.S Thought the original was 256MB anyway, why does it show 248MB?
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but original Dell thread was getting too long.

Here is the guide:

And you really need to make sure the module is seated correctly, you should hear the click sound when the module is correctly snapped into the position.
Your notebook shows less memory because it is taken by the graphics card (in your case, 8MB of your RAM is assigned to graphics card).0 -
thanks, but i swear i feel like my computer's running faster, I'm downloading mp3s at twice the speed. Is it possible that it could have worked but just not shown up in the properties, or is my mind playing tricks?bad hair day...0
