Equifax Credit File

On my credit file it shows my maiden name in the "alias - also known as....." details. (I had a bad day (!!!) and mistakenly entered this when updating the info on my file, as it was incorrect)
I contacted Equifax and said this information was incorrect as I have never been known under an "alias" but they refuse to amend/delete this information - saying I had given this to them and it is not possible to delete same
Anything I can do?

unless you are trying to avaid debt, doesnt really matter and you should disclose when applying for credit0
