I need a bit of advice! My partner and i are looking to have a 7-night holiday in Tenerife between 26th August and 10th September. We really want to stay in PlayaDe Las America and if we book now we can get a package for about £500.
But. Should we book now safe in the knowledge our holiday is definite, or follow martins advice and try to get a cheaper package nearer the time?
My partner is all for waiting but im risk adverse and am worried about ending up with an arrival on allocation nightmare!
Does anyone have any great success stories of booking late packages? Any advice would be much appreciated!:)

Things are changing,if you think its a good deal then BOOK IT,or im sure sava and sloppy will be able to find you something, you have time (a bit ).lately the late deals are few and far between, have found the early bookers are getting best deals.
If its £500 for the both of you,THEN BOOK IT.If not could prob find something cheaper, cant help today, just on way to football.
Will Guarantee sava and sloppy have something up their sleeves.!!

Hi im flying from any London airports. The £500 figure i got i think from Thomsons but i cant remember any details!
Many Thanks:dance:0 -
Why dont you ring a few more travel agents if they ask if you have a price knock £10 or £20 of the price you have and they may be able to give a cheaper price and keep doing this a few times and you will be surprised how much it may come down.0

even the direct sell companies have nothing for 500 for both of you
self packaging is coming out to around 550 for both +transfers
Thomsons cheapest now is 284 base price (extras on top of that)
eclipse have a package for £635 (nothing else on top)
1st week in September is popular because the kids have just gone back to school so people like me with no kids and the older generation its the first time to get away with lower prices if you can get it for 500 for both in PDLA I would book itIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0 -
British airways will fly you to Tenerife South for £318 (for 2). www.ba.com on Thurs 31 AUG to Thurs 7 Sept
You must put TFS in arrival airport box or you will get results for Tenerife North as well !
www.alpharooms.com will do you studio in PARADERO apts for £192
TOTAL COST FOR 2=£510

Reviews- Stayed between the 25/2/6 and the 3/3/6 with my mother. Apartments were clean, centrally located and safe.
Real value for money. Nice bar area and pool - The Paradero complex is superb. Our apartment was a lovely size for the two of us, well equipped and very clean. The staff are very friendly, helpful and from what we found very honest. The complex itself is huge, within hopping distance to supermarkets, restaurants and bars. If you want peace and quiet - simply walk 10 minutes in one direction, if you want noise and madness - simply walk 10 minutes in the other direction. The beach and main shopping area are within 15 minutes walk, but if you prefer to go a little further (eg, Torviscas), if you wait outside the Main Reception, you'll flag down a taxi in minutes. Enjoy...cos we did!

Blondie....
Just how much commision do you think an Agent makes on £500?!! Possible £50-£70 max, of which in most cases the individual Agent will make only 30% of this-ie £15-£21!! .....!! Do you really think they're going to give away commision if this is all they are making???!!
By the time you've f****d about ringing round endless companies the original deal could have gone or increased in price! That really is bad advice you're giving out! If the holiday was £1300+ then yes you could shave a bit off. Come on....common sense & basis mathematics tell you there is nowhere to go at £500! If someone came through to me & said they'd been quoted £500 & could they a)-have £20 off & b) would I better it the answer would be no & no! 99% of agents would give this response as another phone call is only a few minutes away.....come on moneysavers! Have some common sense!0 -

Ok guys im sorry ive caused a bit of an argument! I seem to have got it a bit wrong on the figure of £500 but ive had some great quotes on here which is lovely, many thnks to everyone who posted.
But i would still like advice on my original question? Should i wait until nearer the time to see if i could get a cheaper package?:dance:0 -
Like I have already said if your happy with the price you get book it and its where you want to gowhen you want to go and you can afford it book it.
Chances are if you left it right till the last might you would get an Allocation on Arrival and me placed away from where you wanted to be...do the booking yourself from BudgetFlyers advice and you know you have your holiday when and where you want knowing you having spent a fortune £255 each isnt expensive for PDLAIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0 -
Flights can only go up at that price IMO.Accom prices stay pretty much the same although the later you leave it,the less choice you may have.
Id book it now0
