Any UPS experts out there?

Hi. I'm a one-man business and been advised to get UPS. It will need to power a beast of a PC (say 450W draw) a couple of LED monitors, a small server (40-50W), an NAS and a network switch. I reckon about 700W altogether and all it will need to do is give me time to shut down.

Any recommendations?

Thanks - Rick

I use something like this for your setup. I use one in my office for pretty much the same specifications of what you are using now. If you aren't comfortable you could step it up but I'm sure it will do the job.

The brand is reliable and we also have the larger makes/models for our racks.

Definitely APC, one of the decent "desktop" models will be fine (as per Knub), or you could have one for the PC, and one for server and other components.

Thanks guys. Interestingly just had a quote from a company offering more than double the capacity and double the cost. APC it is then....!

I've been using APCs for home-office and our main offices, client offices etc for many many years, never had an issue, very reliable and saved our bacon on power cuts on many occasions!

Yep, mine was about 2 months ago, power outage in whole area for 4 hours.

Gave us 20mins on the desktops to shutdown and save our work (whilst hearing the "awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww's" around the building from everyone else who doesnt have one :D)

The server room solution is a lot more advanced and a controlled shutdown took place and everyone was happy.

Echoing Iso, been using them for a long time, well known and quality brand. Can't go far wrong!
